About TEDxSouthlake
Who We Are:
TEDx Southlake, founded in 2020 by Uma Devireddy, is a vibrant platform that nurtures public speaking and leadership among youth and adults. Born from a personal mission to help young individuals overcome their fear of public speaking, TEDx Southlake has quickly grown into a beacon of inspiration and transformation within our community.

Our Values:
- Empowerment: We empower speakers of all ages, helping them to craft and convey their messages powerfully, preparing youth for prestigious educational opportunities and adults for advanced professional roles.
- Inclusivity: We prioritize a diverse range of voices, including students, industry veterans, and community leaders, fostering a rich, intergenerational dialogue.
- Community: At the core of TEDx Southlake is a volunteer-driven commitment, with teams dedicating extensive time to mentor speakers, reflecting a profound community effort without monetary gain.

Bridging Generational Gaps: TEDx Southlake stands out for its unique intergenerational impact. Since 2021, we have expanded to include not just brilliant young minds but also seasoned professionals:

-
Youth Leadership and Achievement: Annually, we coach 20 to 22 speakers. Among these speakers, more than 80% of our pre-collegiate speakers go to Ivy League colleges, and our older speakers have testified to the benefits of this experience in the workplace
-
Adult Success Stories: Our platform has catalyzed the transition of many adults into professional speaking roles and significantly advanced their careers.
-
Collaborative Learning: By blending youthful energy with seasoned wisdom, we cultivate an environment where every generation can learn from each other and thrive together.
Our Impact and Goals: Our most recent event in 2024 showcased 20 global voices, illustrating our evolution into a melting pot of cultural and professional diversity. This event not only highlighted our reach but also our commitment to fostering global connections. As we approach our next event on October 27, 2024, our focus is on expanding our influence and securing the support necessary to sustain and grow our volunteer-driven non-profit efforts.
Through TEDx Southlake, we aim to continue transforming the public speaking landscape, making it a powerful conduit for personal and professional growth across generations. Your feature on TEDx Southlake would not only spotlight our unique model but also inspire your viewers to engage with and support our empowering community initiative.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan, and Daniel Kahneman.

The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; TED Translators, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established The Audacious Project which takes a collaborative approach to funding ideas with the potential to create change at a thrilling scale; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self-organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
