About TEDxSouthlake

Southlake is a vibrant city intersected by key trade routes, numerous highways, and rail lines, making it a hub of constant activity.

Yet, it also serves as a pivotal point for other crucial sectors: aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, information and transportation services, banking, design, and the arts. These crossroads — both acknowledged and unnoticed — are a hotbed for innovation.

Our team is excited to take on the task of bringing the TEDx experience to Southlake because we believe that the city's most valuable resources are the ideas and dreams of its residents. Ideas possess the power to transform perspectives and alter behaviors. Dreams are the origin of all possibilities. However, dreams are often put on hold and ideas go unheard due to the absence of a platform that amplifies them. We want TEDxSouthlake to be that platform.

We strive to feature the widest range of perspectives. We invite esteemed thinkers and achievers, innovators and visionaries from all walks of life and fields of work. Our objective is to present discussions on topics that resonate with our community — devoid of corporate, political, and religious biases — and to ignite a genuine conversation about making impactful changes.

We have faith in the charm of our city, Southlake, and its multitude of diverse voices. Our aim is to ensure that these voices are not just heard, but also disseminated.

OUR MISSION: To serve as a spark for positive transformation, enlightening minds with compelling ideas. OUR VISION: That Southlake stands as an informed, inspired, and engaged city.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan, and Daniel Kahneman.

The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; TED Translators, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established The Audacious Project which takes a collaborative approach to funding ideas with the potential to create change at a thrilling scale; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self-organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
